Two cross-country skiing events in one beautiful valley
51st Engadin Skimarathon - 10 March 2019
The Engadin Skimarathon is not only the most well-known sporting event in the country, but also a beloved meeting point for the world’s elite. The “Engadiner” is the largest cross-country skiing activity in Switzerland and the second largest worldwide. Furthermore the Engadin Skimarathon is member of World Loppet and Visma Ski Classics. Since the first holding in 1969, the international resonance and renown of the event have grown strongly. For the first time in its 50-year history, the number of participants at the 2018 anniversary event had to be limited to 14,200.
The Marathon week before the "Engadiner" offers an attractive entertainment: On the first Sunday in March it starts with the Engadin Women’s Race, which is the second largest cross-country skiing event in Switzerland. The Youth Sprint is hold on Wednesday, followed by the Engadin Night Race on Thursday evening. Top athletes keep the excitement going on Friday in the traditional Night Sprint.
6th La Diagonela - 19 January 2019
La Diagonela is an open classic-technique cross-country skiing event, which leads through the upper Engadin with its start and finish line in the village of Zuoz, covering an originally planned total distance of 65km. The event’s little sister is the less strenuous la Pachifica, covering 35km from Pontresina to Zuoz.
The Engadin’s classic race complements the well-loved and established Engadin Skimarathon, held annually in March. La Diagonela is scheduled just one week prior to the Marcialonga in Italy’s Val di Fiemme.
