"Engadin Skimarathon - individual"
Experience the Engadin Skimarathon between March 5th and 13th 2021 in a different way: "Engadin Skimarathon - individual".
The "Engadin Skimarathon - individual" offer was launched in order to spread that Engadin Skimarathon feeling. This time you don't compete against the over 14,000 other participants, but against yourself. The fixed time measurement on the original marathon route from Maloja to S-chanf is accessible to all cross-country skiing enthusiasts and Engadin Skimarathon fans, but requires registration.
The "Engadin Skimarathon – individual" will be held from March 5th to March 14th 2021.
Important: It is not possible to start on Sunday, March 14th, 2021, due to cross-country World Cup races which will be hold.
The organizer has the right to cancel the "Engadin Skimarathon - individual" on Sunday, March 14 th, 2021 at any time, should another race take place on the course on this day.
All ladies and gentlemen with a birth year of 2004 and older are eligible to participate.
Freestyle and Classic; the whole track is groomed (classic tracks where possible).
Maloja – S-chanf (42 km). There will be no half marathon distance offered.
On the section between Pontresina and Samedan Airport, the route deviates from the original Engadin Skimarathon route and will be signposted. There are various road crossings on the course, which will not be closed or prepared. At most, skis must be taken off to cross the road. Cars have the right of way and the general traffic rules apply. In La Punt the time will be neutralized.
Registration and registration deadline
Registration is only possible online and will be closed on March 13th, 2021 at 11 a.m., provided that there are still starting places available. If a person wants to participate several times, they must register online again and pay the entry fee again.
The organizer has the right to limit the number of participants if necessary.
The entry fee is CHF 20.- and includes the following services:
- Start number incl. timing chip
- Arm band for start number
- Time measurement
- Finisher Diploma (digital)
- Energy boost from Isostar
- Cross-country pass for the given day (the start number serves as a trail pass on the day of the race on the Engadin Skimarathon course)
The entry fee is exclusive of any transaction costs (e.g. credit card fees).
If the race is cancelled due to COVID-19, the entry fee will be refunded. If the competition cannot take place for any other reason, no refund will be made. Those who cannot start at the "Engadin Skimarathon – individual" will not receive a refund of the entry fee.
In case of doubtful race conditions, the organizer will provide information via the website.
Timing chip issue
The timing chip (start number) can be collected at the following locations:
- at the multi-purpose hall in Maloja (just opposite the post office). The timing chip issue can be collected daily from March 5th to 13th from 8.00 am to 12.00 noon.
- at the information point in St. Moritz. Daily from March 4th to 13th during normal opening hours.
- on the Rondo forecourt in Pontresina. Daily from March 4th to 12th, Sunday-Wednesday from 4 pm to 6 pm and Thursday-Saturday from 4 pm to 7 pm.
Wearing a protective mask is mandatory. COVID-19 protection measures must be complied with.
The timing chip (start number) is given with f foot bandage is issued which must be worn on the left or right foot (around the ankle). The timing chip must be worn externally to guarantee a flawless time measurement (not in the jacket/pants pocket or in the backpack).
Arrival and Departure
The journey to the start in Maloja and the return journey from the destination in S-chanf is a matter for the participants. There are few public parking spaces available in Maloja. There are no parking spaces available at the destination area in S-chanf. We recommend the use of public transport for the journey. The nearest stop to the start is the busstation "Maloja, Post".
The Engadin bus is available to take you to the start in Maloja.
The return from S-chanf can be made by Rhaetian Railway. Please notice: The train stop S-chanf Marathon is not served by the Rhaetian Railway. A transport from the finish area to the train station S-chanf will be provided every hour.
Start times and start procedure
Participants will start individually between March 5th and March 13th, 2021 between 8.00 am and 12 noon. After 12 noon the start will be closed and the timing will not be triggered. The day of the race or the exact start time does not have to be announced in advance.
As soon as the participant crosses the starting line, time measurement is activated. For 30 minutes, the starting line can then be crossed as many times as you wish and only the last triggered time applies. This provides enough time for photos, etc.
If the participant forfeits the race, it cannot be restarted (time measurement will not be treggered). It is possible to participate several times at "Engadin Skimarathon - individual", but it requires a new registration for the race.
The finish in S-chanf will be closed at 3 pm. Skiers who arrive at the finish line after the official finish will no longer be ranked and the run therefore cannot be evaluated.
There are no refreshments available on the route.
Transport of personal effects
No transport of personal effects is available. Personal items must be carried with you.
An ambulance service on the route is not offered. In case of emergency call 144.
Repair and waxing service
A pole, repair or waxing service is not offered.
Starting and raking list
All participants are ranked separately in a national ranking by men and women. If you participate several times, the name appears several times on the leaderboard.

Qualification Engadin Skimarathon
Participation in the "Engadin Skimarathon – individual" is not considered to be a participation in the Engadin Skimarathon and the time is not considered as a qualification time for future Engadin Skimarathon.

Insurance / Liability
Each participant must be accident insured and fully responsible for his / her state of health. The organizer assumes no liability for accidents, lost items, theft and other damages of any kind. Also, the organizer rejects all liability towards spectators and third-parties.
Acceptance technical instructions and regulations
With the payment of the entry fee the participants accept without reservation these technical instructions and these regulations of the Engadin Skimarathon.
