53rd Engadin Skimarathon - 14 March 2021
The Engadin Skimarathon is not only the most well-known sporting event in the country, but also a beloved meeting point for the world’s elite. The Engadin Skimrathon is the largest cross-country skiing activity in Switzerland and the second largest worldwide. Furthermore the Engadin Skimarathon is member of World Loppet. Since the first holding in 1969, the international resonance and renown of the event have grown strongly. For the first time in its 50-year history, the number of participants at the 2018 anniversary event had to be limited to 14,200.
The Marathon week before the "Engadiner" offers an attractive entertainment: On the first Sunday in March it starts with the Engadin Women’s Race, which is the second largest cross-country skiing event in Switzerland. The Youth Sprint is hold on Wednesday, followed by the Engadin Night Race on Thursday evening.
8th La Diagonela - 16 January 2021
La Diagonela is a classic-technique cross-country skiing event, which leads through the upper Engadin with its start and finish line in the village of Zuoz. The tracks covers 65km of pure cross-country beauty. After starting in Pontresina, the tracks leads you through beautiful small villages to the lake of St. Moritz, into the beautiful Val Roseg, past Pontresina, along the airport of Samedan and back into the historical village of Zuoz.
Besides La Diagonela a smaller 27km long race, called La Pachifica - which means the "comfortable" - takes place at the same time. It leads from Pontresina to the finish in Zuoz.
For the first time in the history of La Diagonela a relay in skating technique is being offered. Share the track in a team of four athletes and compete together with other teams.
